COP15 Perspective from a COP Veteran – Nicolas Nadeau

My CYD adventures started over three years ago, but even now, I never cease to be surprised… Over this time, I’ve seen this international youth climate movement grow in number and organizational capacity, from a group of 100 youth in Bali to a powerhouse team of over 1500 commited, and passionate youth here in Copenhagen.

Each of my CYD families have been amazing in their own way, and always remind me of something I learned about teams. You don’t need individuals with all the skills. You just need individuals skilled in their own ways, and let the team foster them. That’s when teams really kick ass, and why I believe we’ve kicked ass as well here in Copenhagen. And frankly, nothing is more energizing for the soul than spending time with such dedicated and diverse Canadians.

I didn’t come here expecting to change the world, but simply hoping to engage my government and demand that they represent the majority of canadians who want strong action on climate change. Did that happen? No. Will I stop trying? Never.
