Farewell from the CYD Coordinator Maia

As CYD Coordinator I want to say thank you to each and every delegate that put their heart and soul into this year’s team.  This year’s CYD is a freaking army of unbelievably amazing people. I have never worked with a group of people this incredible. They are truly sensational people, packed to the brim with so much soul, passion, heart, love and compassion. They fight this fight from the inside of their hearts, and it hurts to watch as their dreams are crushed by selfish and greedy world leaders who share none of the same compassion or heartfulness as any of these youth warriors. The outcome of COP15 is not what any of us were hoping for, but the group stays strong and the sentiment echoed amongst everyone is that we need to keep working and building our movement.  We can’t do it on our own, but if any group could it would be this one.  A reporter in Victoria told me that preeminent climate scientists weren’t too hopeful about the outcome of the COP, but that the most important thing to come out of this COP was the youth movement.  Despite the tragedy of that statement, it is a huge testament to the power and dedication of the youth here and around the world who are mobilizing and fighting to change this world for the better.
