Project Survival Media

Project Survival Media (PSM) is a global youth journalism network broadcasting stories of people most impacted by climate change. The organization was born in August 2009 in the lead-up to COP15 in Copenhagen, after which it became clear to PSM that international institutions were not going to be the ones to provide sufficient widespread access to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Since COP15, PSM has launched 11 youth media teams on seven continents; published 90 blogs and photo essays, along with six short-video documentaries; and had its work featured on major sites such as It’s Getting Hot in Here and the Huffington Post. PSM also designed and launched Solutions for Survival, a global new media program focused on spreading tangible, local, and equitable climate solutions through compelling personal narratives. Already Solutions for Survival has launched two pilot youth teams (Team Kenya and Team India), produced two documentaries and published multiple blogs and photo essays.

PSM’s summer campaign is an online fundraising drive to support PSM’s work and team members as they continue to report on communities at the frontlines of climate change. PSM has sent youth media teams to the past three COPs and plans to send another to this year’s COP18 in Qatar.
